GIDE Quick Start

Create Model


1) Go to Dataroom.

2) Select the Models tab in the Dataroom navigation pane (bottom of the left window section in the default view) and bring up the context menu (right-click on your mouse).

3) Select Create Model.



4) Enter the name of the model and press the OK button.

The New Model appears in the window section Models.

Note: Model properties of the model created in this way will be the same as properties of the previously open model.

To adjust properties, see Edit model properties.


Edit model properties


1) Go to Home.

2) Select Model Properties (left window section in the default view) and set the following properties:

3) Time Period: Click on the arrows or enter the year in the Time period box to set Model’s time line.

4) Current Month: From the drop down menu of Current Month, select the desired month for which you have the latest data available, and press GO button.

5) Real-time Calculation: From the drop down menu of Real-time Calculation, select which data set (Actual, Forecast only, Forecast and Budget) you want to have calculated by default in the model for the given year.



1) Go to Home.

2) Select Currencies (left window section in Home tab in the default view) and set the following properties:

3) Numeric Scale: From the drop down menu of Numeric Scale, select the numeric scale (Base value, Thousands, or Millions) in which you want to display your data in the Dataroom grid.

4) Model Currency: From the drop down menu of Model Currency, select the desired currency to show the appropriate currency sign.

5) Currency Exchange: From the drop down menu of Currency Exchange, select the desired currency into which you want to recalculate the model’s currency data. Please note that prior to this action you have to define the exchange rates for the currencies in use.


Create Statement


1) Go to Dataroom.

2) Select the Statements in the Dataroom navigation pane (bottom of the left window section in the default view) and bring up the context menu (right-click on your mouse).

3) Select Add Statement.



4) Enter the name of the statement and press the OK button.

The new empty statement appears in the window section Statements.

Create Account


1) Go to Dataroom.

2) In the main Datagrid area bring up the context menu (right-click on your mouse). Select Create Account.



3) Select Create Account.

The New account appears in the Dataroom grid.

As an alternative to manually creating an account, you may opt for creating accounts using Accounts Import.

Accounts Import


1) Go to Home.

2) Select Accounts Import.

3) Click the ellipses symbol (‘...’) to browse for the source file.

4) Tick the checkbox(es) next to the model(s) into which you want to import the accounts, and press the Select button. GIDE will upload the accounts from the source file.



5) Tick the Create checkbox.

Untick the checkboxes of those accounts you do not want to create.

6) Press the Import button.

Edit account properties and appearance


1) Go to Dataroom.

2) Select the accounts for which you want to change the appearance.

3) Press the Units icon in the header tool bar and select the desired unit of measure from the drop down menu.

The unit or currency, along with its numeric scale, appears in the Values column in the Dataroom grid.

Edit Statement


1) Go to Dataroom.

All the accounts of the open model are listed in Model Accounts (left window section in the default view, Statement tab).

2) Select the accounts you want to appear in other Statement(s).

3) Tick the checkbox next to the name of those statements.

The selected accounts will appear in the checked Statements.



4) To visually separate accounts you may add an empty line between two accounts. Bring up the context menu (right-click on your mouse) and select Insert Empty Line.

5) To permanently move one or more accounts within the Dataroom grid, select those you want to move, bring up the context menu, and select Cut Lines. Move your mouse cursor to the place where you want to paste the accounts, bring up the context menu, and select Insert Cut Lines.

6) You can also change the appearance of the accounts displayed in a statement. Select the accounts you want to format and press the relevant icon on your header tool bar (bold, italic font size, colour, etc).

Add formula to an account


1) Go to Account Management.

Go to lower section of the Accounts window.

2) Select the account to which you want to add the formula.

3) Drag and drop the account to the upper section of the window accounts.

4) Select the desired formula from the Formulas list.

5) Drag and drop the selected formula to the Account Formulas window section.

6) Select the formula in the Account Formulas window section. Then, if so required, drag and drop the formula parameters from the Accounts List into the Formula Parameters section. Finally, in the Formula Time Validity section, select the period for which you want the formula to be valid.

7) Press the Save button.

Note: For multiple account editing, press Multi Account Mode in the header tool bar. This allows you to select several accounts at the beginning of the process into the upper section of the window accounts, thus letting you edit them all at once.

Note: Where so required, in specific formulas (e.g. ratio, change, turn in days, etc), GIDE will automatically add supporting auxiliary functions, displayed as Auxiliary rows.

Import historical data


1) Go to Home.

2) Select Data Import.

3) Click the ellipses symbol (‘...’) to browse for the source file.

4) Tick the checkbox(es) next to the model(s) into which you want to import data, and press the Select button. GIDE will upload the data from the source file.



5) Tick the checkbox(es) for the period(s) into which you want to import data, press OK.



6) Untick the checkbox(es) for those year columns into which you do not want to import.

7) Press the Import button.

Note: You can also manually modify input data. In the Dataroom tab, double click on the cell and enter the desired number.

Assess business performance


1) Go to Dataroom.

2) Click on the desired account or its cell in the Dataroom Grid.

3) Click on the Assumption Detail tab in the section below the Dataroom Grid.

The supporting grid displays the account’s amounts and auxiliary rows if these are available for the displayed period.

4) If you would like to change the future development of the selected account, enter the desired value into the relevant time cell for the auxiliary row or for the main account row, to alter the intrinsic performance trend.



5) For visual assessment of the business’ performance you may go to Quick Chart, where the selected account(s) will appear in a graph with a relevant time and scale.

Distribute Data


1) Go to Dataroom.

2) Click on the Statements tab in the Dataroom navigation window.

3) Select a statement to display its data.

4) Press the Print icon in the header tool bar to directly print all accounts in the display. Alternatively, press the Print Preview icon to customize the page displayed (margins, header, footer, etc).



1) Go to Dataroom.

2) Click on the Statements tab in the Dataroom navigation window.

3) Select a statement to display its data.

4) Press the Export icon in the header tool bar to directly export all accounts in the display.

5) Select the relevant export format.

Select the destination to which you want to save the file.

Press Save button.
