Consolidation

In GIDE, consolidation is a quick way of adding associated accounts in associated models.

Consolidation serves mainly to structure data from a company’s (or group of companies’) various organizational units, with the aim of modelling the parent company by way of modelling its component parts. This lets the user work more precisely in a complex environment.

For the user, a model in consolidation can be an independent company, or one of its organizational units, or a market segment, or any part of a company or data group the use would like to model independently.

Consolidation lets the user create and modify consolidation trees, add, omit, or eliminate models or individual accounts from the consolidation tree.

To eliminate commercial ties between models in consolidation, it is necessary to create accounts of internal flows shared by the relevant models. Consolidation feature allows:

 

Basic Display in Consolidation

The consolidation setting is available in the working section of Consolidation, which consists of the following windows:

Consolidation Tree window – This shows active models that are already part of a consolidation family.

Available Models window – This shows models available for the creation of a new consolidation family, or for inclusion in an existing family or sub–family, but only on the condition they are not already in the marked consolidation family.

Consolidation Structure window – This shows the consolidation scheme and a list of consolidation accounts of mother and child models, their codes and names.

Accounts List window – This shows the accounts, of the consolidation scheme or consolidated model marked in the Consolidation Structure window, which are not consolidated, and therefore can be added to the consolidation subsequently.

 

Adjusting Display of the Consolidation Structure Window

To adjust the Consolidation Structure window display, the following functions are available:

Display of columns with account codes of parent (superior) models. Right–click in the Consolidation Structure window, and from the context menu select Codes Parent, or click on the Codes Parent icon in the tool bar.

Display of columns with account names of parent (superior) models. Right–click in the Consolidation Structure window, and from the context menu select Names Parent, or click on the Names Parent icon in the tool bar.

Display of columns with account codes of child (subordinate) models. Right–click in the Consolidation Structure window, and from the context menu select Codes Children, or click on the Codes Children icon in the tool bar.

Display of columns with account names of child (subordinate) models. Right–click in the Consolidation Structure window, and from the context menu select Names Children), or click on the Names Children icon in the tool bar.

 

Creating a Consolidation Family

A consolidation family is a group of interconnected models in hierarchical structure, consisting of parent (superior) models and child (subordinate) models.

01 / Models available for creating a consolidation family appear in the Available Models window. Drag and drop specific models into an empty space in the Consolidation Tree window. This model will be the parent (superior) model.

02 / In the window that appears, in the tool bar, determine the mask for the automatic mapping of child (subordinate) accounts by setting the upper and lower limits of account codes.

03 / Select accounts to be consolidated by ticking the check boxes for a specific account. To select multiple accounts, mark the accounts, right–click, and select Check from the context menu.

Tip: To select all of a model’s accounts, use Check All in the tool bar. To cancel the selected accounts, use Uncheck All).

04 / Confirm your selection by clicking OK.

Tip: At any time, you can change he mask code in the Mask column of the Consolidation Structure window.

 

Adding a Model to a Consolidation

Models to be added to a consolidation are availalbe after marking the parent (superior) model in the Available Models window. Select, drag and drop a model into the Consolidation Tree window, to the model the child (subordinate) model is to be subordinate. Then hold down the Shift key, which will display a blue arrow icon in the parent model; this indicates the model has been added to the consolidation family. Releasing the mouse button and the Shift key will place the model in the consolidation tree.

 

Displaying the Accounts List Window

Right–click in the Consolidation Structure window and from the context menu select Accounts List, or click on the Accounts List icon in the tool bar. This will bring up a window on the right side of the screen. Prekliknutím on another modeil in the Consolidation Structure will change the list of accounts to the accounts of the relevant model.

In the Accounts List window, you can filter accounts in a way similar to that described in 9.13 Filter Row.

If you click on the Filter button in the tool bar, a filter appears that will search in the Accounts List window.

 

Assigning an Account to a Consolidation Family

In the Accounts List window, mark the desired account, right–click, and from the context menu select Add to Family, or click on the Add to Family icon in the tool bar. If such an account appears in child accounts as well, these accounts will automatically be added to the consolidation at all levels.

 

Assigning an Account to Consolidation Branches

You can assign an account only to the consolidation branch and not to the entire tree by marking the superior model in the branch. In the Accounts List window, mark the given account, then right–click and from the context menu select Add to Subgroup, or click on the Add to Subgroup icon in the tool bar. If the account is also in child accounts, all of them will automatically be assigned to the consolidation.

 

Assigning Another Account to a Consolidation

You can assign an account to a consolidation other than that to which it is automatically assigned, using a code mask. This is available by marking the child account. In the Accounts List window, mark the given account, then right–click and from the context menu select Add Account, or click on the Add Account icon in the tool bar.

 

Removing an Account From a Consolidation Family

You can also remove an account from the entire consolidation family. In the Consolidation Structure window, mark the given account, then right–click and from the context menu select Remove from Family or click the Remove from Family icon in the tool bar. If the account is also in child accounts, all of them will automatically be removed from the consolidation at all levels of the consolidation tree.

 

Removing an Account from a Consolidation Branch

You can remove an account from a consolidation branch only, and not from the entire tree, by marking the superior model in the branch. In the Consolidation Structure window, mark the given account, then right–click and from the context menu select Remove from Subgroup, or click on the Remove from Subgroup icon in the tool bar. If the account is also in child accounts, all of them will automatically be removed from the consolidation.

 

Removing an Account from a Consolidation

In the Consolidation Structure window, mark the given account, then right–click and from the context menu select Remove Account, or click on the Remove Account icon in the tool bar.

 

Temporarily Removing a Model from a Consolidation

You can discover the effect on other models of removing a model from a consolidation family by temporarily removing that model; there is no need to delete the model. In the Consolidation Tree window, mark the given account, then right–click and from the context menu select Exclude, or click on the Exclude icon in the tool bar.

If the model is temporarily removed from the consolidation, its name remains in the consolidation tree, but its name appears in red.

Tip: You can also temporarily remove a model from a consolidation using a context menu in the Dataroom working section.

 

Re–assigning a Model Temporarily Removed From a Consolidation

In the Consolidation Tree window, mark the given model, then right–click and from the context menu select Include, or click on the Include icon in the tool bar.

Tip: You can also re–assign a temporarily removed model using a context menu in the Dataroom working section.

 

Removing a Model From a Consolidation

In the Consolidation Tree window, mark the given model, then right–click and from the context menu select Remove, or click on the Remove icon in the tool bar. After you have removed the model from a consolidation, the model is no longer part of the consolidation structure, and its accounts are not consolidated.

 

Exporting a Consolidation Structure

In the Consolidation Structure window, right–click and from the context menu select Export, or click on the Export icon in the tool bar. The consolidation structure created, including the consolidated accounts, can be exported, or printed as described in 10.2 Print Preview.
